Lục Yên Gemstones

In the green mountains of northern Vietnam lies a valley whose soil holds colour. For generations the people of Lục Yên have known their land simply as the “land of gems”. Rubies in shades of blood red and rose, spinels in every hue from crimson to electric blue, and sapphires of royal blue have been drawn from its hillsides, streams and marble rock – making this small district one of the most remarkable gem sources in Asia.

在越南北部的青山之间，有一片土壤中蕴藏着色彩的山谷。世世代代，陆安（Lục Yên）的人们把家乡称作“宝石之乡”。血红与玫红的红宝石、从深红到电光蓝的各色尖晶石，以及皇家蓝的蓝宝石，都出自这里的山坡、溪流与大理岩——让这个小小的县城成为亚洲最非凡的宝石产地之一。

Four Decades of Discovery / 四十年的发现

Gem mining in Lục Yên began in 1983, when the first rubies were found. Spinel followed around 1987, the same year the first gem market opened. Since then, generations of local miners have worked the valleys and streams by hand, and the gem market in Yên Thế town has become a meeting place for villagers, cutters and traders from across Vietnam and abroad.

陆安的宝石开采始于1983年，当时人们发现了第一批红宝石；约1987年又发现了尖晶石，同年第一个宝石市场开张。此后，一代又一代当地矿工以手工在山谷与溪流间淘寻宝石，安世镇（Yên Thế）的宝石市场也成为村民、切磨师与来自越南各地及海外商人的聚会之所。

Cobalt Blue Spinel / 钴蓝尖晶石

Among all of Lục Yên's treasures, one stands apart: cobalt blue spinel. Coloured by traces of cobalt, it shows an intense, almost neon blue that seems to glow from within. Research published in Gems & Gemology, the journal of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), identifies Lục Yên as Vietnam's most productive gem region and a leading world source of vivid blue spinel.

在陆安众多珍宝中，有一种格外出众——钴蓝尖晶石。它因含微量钴元素而呈现出浓烈、近乎霓虹的蓝色，仿佛由内而外发光。美国宝石学院（GIA）《宝石与宝石学》期刊发表的研究指出，陆安是越南产量最高的宝石产区，也是世界上鲜艳蓝色尖晶石的主要来源之一。

Because high-quality cobalt spinel forms only in rare geological conditions, fine stones are scarce – and increasingly sought after by collectors worldwide.

由于优质钴蓝尖晶石只在极为罕见的地质条件下形成，上乘之作十分稀少，正日益受到全球收藏家的追捧。
